The lifespan of a bra is about 6-9 months. In general, the main reasons are the aging and slacking of the elastic and shoulder bands affecting their stretch and recovery ability and the crease line formation of the bra foam affecting its appearance. Below are some tips of bra care to elongate its lifespan.
Bra Care Tips
- If you wear only one bra regularly, the elasticity will undergo a prolong tensed situation accelerating the aging and slacking process. The crease line on the cup will also be formed easily and quickly. In order to let the bra have enough time to resume its stretchability and recovery, it is recommended to let the bra rest at least 1-2 days before wearing again. In other words, at least 3-5 bras have to be prepared in your wardrobe so that you can swap them to wear accordingly.
- To elongate the lifespan of a bra, you need to wash the bra after every time of wearing or at least after not more than 3 times of wearing since washing will allow elasticity to resume its stretching and recovering ability.
- Recommend hand washing to reduce crease line formation to the least
Hand Washing bra Tips
- Fill water (< = 40 degree Celsius) into a large basin.
- Dissolve your detergent (recommend to use neutral detergent) in the water completely first to avoid causing discoloration or damage of the fabric.
- Remove detachable pad if any from bra before washing. Wash pad and bra separately.
- Put your bra, or detachable pad in the neutral detergent water. Lightly press and wash it with both hands. Rinse it thoroughly to prevent color changes in the fabric.
